British Values
In accordance with The Department for Education, we aim to actively promote British values in our school to ensure St.Kentigern's pupils leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. As a school, we value and celebrate the diverse heritages of everybody at St Kentigern’s. Alongside this, we value and celebrate being part of Britain.
We support the values of democracy, rules of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs and these are embedded within our curriculum. These values are found in our own school values identified by the children as respect, kindness, honesty, hard work, cooperation, fairness, confidence, tolerance, politeness, and responsibility.
The purpose of this is to help to ensure that the children are valuable and fully rounded members of society who treat people of all faiths, races, and cultures with respect and tolerance, and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its laws.
Democracy Having leaders who are chosen by members of the public voting for them to run the organisation. |

Rule of Law Rules that everyone in the country has to live by and that the police and courts make sure are followed. |
||
Mutual Respect Letting other people live as they choose to, treating them fairly with kindness and understanding. |
||
Tolerance Learning about and understanding other faiths from around the world. Showing respect to people of all faiths and backgrounds. |
||
Individual Liberty Being able to have and show your own beliefs as long as they do not damage other people’s lives.
